Temporary closure of Academy Gallery

We are responding to developments with COVID-19 with the safety and wellbeing of staff, students and the wider community as our highest priority.
As a result, the University of Tasmania’s Academy Gallery will be temporarily closed effective today. We have been closely following the advice from the World Health Organisation, Australian Government Department of Health, the State Government and the University of Tasmania; and while the risk of contracting COVID-19 in Tasmania remains very low, we have decided to temporarily close and suspend upcoming programs. This decision will be reassessed against the national guidelines every two weeks.
Along with our colleagues in the arts and cultural sector, we are only too aware of the important role galleries play as sites of creativity, learning, reflection and inclusion. We regret any inconvenience this temporary closure will cause for our regular patrons and volunteers.
We very much look forward to welcoming you back to the Academy Gallery when we are able to.
