Dr Winifred CurtisThe grand lady of Tasmanian botany

Influential Publications

Winifred Curtis's research contributed to our understanding of Tasmanian flora.

Her major publications are

  • Biology for Australian Students
  • Student's Flora of Tasmania
  • The Endemic Flora of Tasmania

Her frustration with the directive to instruct Australian students using British educational texts led her to write, in collaboration with botanist Dennis Ivor Morris, The Students' Flora of Tasmania(1943).
