I met her when I was a PhD student at LDEO, and I admired her strong leadership, her sense of adventure, and her voice for women in science. Robin Bell is geophysicist at the Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO). She has led numerous expeditions to Antarctica and Greenland, and made amazing discoveries, including two large lakes and a volcano beneath the ice in Antarctica. She was a leader of the 2007-2008 International Polar Year. She is currently president-elect of the American Geophysical Union. I met her when I was a PhD student at LDEO, and she inspired me with her strong leadership, her sense of adventure, and her voice for women in science.
