Women in science we admire
Homeward Bound
Homeward Bound nominated by Nicole Hellessey
They are the 76 participants and 8 faculty members of Homeward Bound who voyaged to Antarctica as the largest all female expedition. They were entirely self funded and allowed for amazing collaborations and networking as well as real discussions about gender equity, equality, the leaky pipeline, mothers in science and other topics to happen and develop naturally over the course of 3 weeks. Homeward Bound is a 10 year program to connect 1,000 women scientists around the globe over 10 years. To cap it off though the co-founder Jess Melbourne-Thomas is from UTAS (IMAS).
