Research at the Domain

Flynn established a research reputation for zoology in Tasmania and the Department has always flourished in this field. He was a flamboyant teacher in a time when the University had several such.

Under the original terms of his appointment, T T Flynn was to carry out research into, "diseases of plants and animals, anatomy and development of marsupials unique to Tasmania and any other research approved by the trustees."

In 1921 a new aggreement with the Ralston Trustees added a fourth category of approved research, "research on commercial food fisheris in Tasmania".

Much of Flynn's research was conducted at the original School of Biology,  Domain site in Hobart.  The 1928 University of Tasmania Domain site plan by C A Jillett  illustrates the site during Flynn's tenure.
